Science-based transformational work to reduce the impact of work-related stress and trauma.

Our approach to working together

1

Audit & Discovery

Working together we will build a picture of the particular challenges facing your employees. Whether it’s contact with traumatised clients, exposure to distressing material, working long hours in a pressurised environment or all of the above. Let’s discover the best way to protect your people.

2

Tailored programme

Whether it’s working with one employee through coaching or training a team, we carry out a needs assessment before commencing work. Alongside our training programmes, we also offer reflective practise sessions and themed work to tackle particular symptoms of trauma and stress such as intrusive thoughts or nightmares.

3

Long-term support

Investing in on-going training and coaching for all team members will ensure that they continue to feel supported. We offer ongoing sessions and resources so that the work is ingrained in the culture of the organisation. Whether you have new starters or long standing employees, we can tailor packages to suit all.

“The workshop was an eye opening and incredibly important reminder of the impact of trauma. I thought the delivery was clear and full of insight. The feedback from those attending the workshop was overwhelmingly positive and a number of weeks on, the learning and experiences gained have really manifested in our practice.”

— Lindsey Haywood, Camhs Bowden House school

Our training & coaching approach

We take pride in being one of the first to bring awareness and training in relation to the challenges of dealing with trauma and distress in your work. We help you to instill a culture which provides robust support for your staff.

Our training and coaching programmes are designed to cater for all, from the newest team member to the most experienced manager. We deliver a range of programmes from our popular onboarding sessions to a tailor-made needs-based offering.

Research shows that assistance given to someone straight after witnessing something traumatic significantly reduces the chance of them developing PTSD.

We simplify the science so that you can use the information to take steps to protect yourself and your people. All of our programmes are designed to equip your teams to:

  • understand why working with traumatised clients or distressing material might affect them.

  • recognise the signs of a colleague struggling with trauma symptoms.

  • understand the difference between the impact of stress and distress on the mind and body and why this is crucial in relation to effective treatment.

  • implement pre-emptive steps/tools to reduce the impact of distress and to minimise the possibility of re-traumatising others.

  • develop and deepen awareness so that you can catch yourself in the moment or help someone else to do so.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any other questions about our training or approach, please get in touch.

Do attendees need to speak during the training session?

There are opportunities for smaller group discussions, but you do not have to join in the chat. Everyone is welcome to contribute but it is entirely up to the individual.

Is it normal to feel apprehensive before a training session on handling distress or trauma?

Yes totally normal but everyone always says they feel really reassured by the end and the vast majority report really enjoying the session. It is designed to be comfortable and safe. You have everything to gain!

I am not affected by working with distressing material. Why should I attend a training session?

Firstly, it is possible for people to feel unaffected for years but then (all of a sudden) struggle so it is always better to know what to do if one day, this happens to you.

Secondly, part of the training is to share a little about what people struggle with so that if you are a manager (for example) and want to empathise with a team member’s struggle, you can gain some helpful insights!
